The Daring Duo Prepares to Depart

"For the daring and adventurous, there are too many lost cities to seek and explore. The search can take you to the Himalayas, the Brazilian rain forest, the ever-shifting sands of the desert, ancient volcanoes and to Neptune's Realm. Of course, one cannot go everywhere..."*

But one (or two) can go to Denmark! Aarhus, Denmark, to be specific. And that is truly daring and adventurous. So follow our exploits here at

A Daring Adventure for Two.

We aim to post regularly about both the epic undertakings and the minutiae of life as expatriates. There will be pictures, language lessons, exotic locales, and definitely cupcakes. Of course, you don't have to go to Europe to find those things. We've had plenty right here in Berkeley. Berkeley is fantastic. We're sad to go, but right now we're trying to focus on the excitement of our big move and new life. Mostly we manage that, but now and then we become glum about leaving all our good friends, our families, the moderate climate, our cozy apartment and the rat-bears down the hill. Still, there's lots to look forward to. For instance:

The "bohemian capital" of Denmark
Travel on the Continent
Danish sourdough
Wind energy
New Danish friends
More ecoinformatics than you can shake a stick at

B will be leaving on Friday--this very Friday, June 4th!--and heading east in order to begin work on June 10th at Aarhus University. E will stay in Berkeley until the end of June and then work on the East Coast until early August. Then the Daring Duo will be united once more!

Pending thrilling pictures from far-flung locales, here are some shots that will always remind us of home.

The view from our porch.
Us, B and E, with our wonderful landladies, who inspired us to take on this adventure.

Our friendly apartment. Could it be any more hyggelig?
Med kaerlig hilsener,
E
