Danish For the Win!

Just a note--it's actually me, E, here.  I'm telling you now before the next part gets weird.

In Danish, B is "my man."  (Well, he just is anyway, but sit tight while I explain).  The Danish word for "husband" is mand, or "man."  Meaning that there could be a mand at the door, but my mand usually gets home in time to help with dinner.

If we weren't married, though, B would be my kæreste.  While that's usually translated as "sweetheart" or, more prosaically, "boyfriend/girlfriend," the word literally means "dearest" or "most loved."  I love that, and sometimes I'm a tiny bit jealous of my unmarried friends who have dearests where I just have a man.

So Danish for the win here, right?  I mean, who doesn't want to have a dearest or be one?  Sounds way better than boyfriend, girlfriend, partner, life-partner, or even spouse.  Especially better than spouse.

Two parting thoughts:

Danish is a funny sounding language, but sometimes it really gets things right.
No matter which language I use or how inaccurate this makes me, B is my kaereste after all.

Summer Sky

B took this photo of the early morning sky from our living room window.  I love it and want you to see it too.

Another Daring Adventure for Two!

These days it's not just B and me who are having the grand adventures!  Tiny C is on the move, and she's exploring boldly where few have gone before.  Observe.
