More of the Four!

A nearly wordless post today, because, believe it or not, some of us are tired!

The Daring Quartet toodles all around town.  When we're not being cozy at home, of course.

December 13-- Advent at ADAFT 2014!

C is learning new words just about every day. People often ask if she is learning Danish. She is! But mostly English, though she understands quite a bit of both. In an effort to quantify it (and to satisfy our curiosity and love of making lists), here are Clara's words. In total we count 41 English words, 19 Danish words, and 7 ambiguous. Happy Birthday!

We can hardly believe it, but tiny C is one year (and 2 days) old!  Where did the time go?  (Not to sleeping, that's for sure).  The birthday girl celebrated with presents, peanut butter cupcakes, and Skype sessions galore.

Congratulations on your first year, C!  Many many many happy returns of the day!

Intriguing... especially the lump lurking by the fridge!

The bow is always the best part.

Thanks for birthday, Mommy!

So that's what was lurking in the kitchen!

 Tillykke med fødselsdagen!

 Happy birthday to you!

 I love my cupcake!

Yes, yes, I am very famous and important now.

Because of Babies and Brownies

I'm pretty sure most of the readers of this blog just want to see more pictures of tiny C, so this post will probably make their day!  Sorry it's been so long in coming.

The thing is, C keeps me pretty busy, but that's really no excuse.  Lots of people have a  kid--some even have more than one!--and they still manage to get stuff done.  The real truth is that blogging isn't always my top priority.  For instance, on Sunday C was napping, and did I blog?  No, instead I made brownies.

I'll digress here and point out that it's still cold and still snowing, and brownies were clearly the only way to go.  Also, I've found a new brownie recipe which is possibly the best vegan brownie I've ever made or eaten.  It's here.  I was skeptical at first, because of the banana, but you really can't taste banana!  And trust me, I am not one of those vegans who eats brownies made out of dates, walnuts, and carob, and claims they taste just like a real brownie.  They do not.  But this one is seriously good, so make it and be happy.

Or if you don't want to make brownies, you can just look at the baby pictures and be happy that way instead.

Because babies and brownies may make for bad bloggers, but they make us pretty happy too.

December 7--Advent at ADAFT 2012!

I think I've mentioned before how Danes like bikes.

It follows, then, that even though this post has zilch to do with Christmas, it is a valid Julekalender post, since bikes are totally awesome and festive and great.

In case it isn't clear to you yet, I'll be discussing bikes today.  But you have to wait for it.

We have a baby now, which is both wonderful and terrifying.  B and I are of course trying to do our best by her, and each other, and we spend a lot of time just DOING STUFF and hoping that it's the right thing to do.  Sometimes, when it gets really hard--and also sometimes when it's particularly smooth-sailing and great--, B turns to me and says "We're really doing it."

He means that we're really being parents.  We are really raising a child.

What it makes me think of, though, is a little kid who's just had the training wheels taken off his first bike.  As he wobbles and teeters down the sidewalk, he's hollering "Look, look, I'm doing it, I'm really doing it!"

That's about what it feels like around here.  Like we're sometimes wobbling along, and sometimes going way too fast, and sometimes about to tip over completely, but all the time we're doing it, we're really riding that bike.

Uncharted Territory

She's here!  The Daring Duo is proud to present our tiny daughter, C!  She is two weeks old, and already a real pipperoo.

C was born on October 17th at 2:36 AM, weighing in at 3.2 kilos, and 50 cm long.  By now she's picked up a little extra length and a few extra grams to go with that.  B and I think she's pretty great--and we're excited for the biggest adventure we've ever had together.

The Daring Duo heads off to the hospital, childless for the last time.
There she is!  Feisty already.
But sleepy too.
B is the best.

Gearing up for C's first outdoor adventure!

B takes the pram out for a spin
